Union Eye Testing

Union Eye Testing

For a complete and thorough eye exam, you can count on us at Maplewood Vision Care. Our optometrist will check your vision to determine if you need a new or updated prescription to achieve the best eyesight that you’re capable of. Furthermore, our Union eye testing will also screen you for the most common eye diseases. And since so many eye conditions do not have any symptoms associated with them in their early stages, coming in once per year for an eye exam is the best way to maintain the well-being of your eyes or to restore your optimal eye health if a problem is diagnosed. And just remember, the sooner you come in, the sooner you can be enjoying improved vision.

Even if you already wear corrective lenses, you need to bear in mind that your vision is always changing and your needs today could be different than they were when you first got your glasses or contact lenses. If your existing prescription is still working for you, we will find that out, too. But sometimes there can be subtle signs and you might feel as if you’re seeing okay. But okay is not the same as the best, is it? Thats’s why you need our Union eye testing. And if you have never worn prescription lenses before, an eye exam could reveal that you are nearsighted, farsighted, have an astigmatism, or some combination of these. Luckily, they can all be addressed simply and effectively with glasses or contact lenses.

Two of the most common eye problems are cataracts and glaucoma. As part of our Union eye testing, we will do a tonometry test to measure your internal eye pressure, the baseline test for glaucoma. A slit-lamp exam is the equivalent for cataracts. Other tests will be conducted as needed to form a diagnosis. And if applicable, you will also be tested for macular degeneration (age 40 and older), and diabetic retinopathy (if you have type one or type two diabetes). And we can even find clues to your health outside of your eyes. High cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes may be revealed through our examination of your optical blood vessels.
